ALBADDAD Builds Landmark Infrastructure for GITEX Africa
In March 2025, Marrakech became the epicenter of Africa’s digital transformation with the launch of GITEX Africa — the first expansion of the world’s largest technology exhibition into the African continent. The event marked a turning point, requiring world-class infrastructure that not only reflected innovation and connectivity but also highlighted Morocco’s growing role as a hub for digital transformation.
Unlike the Gulf, Morocco presented unique logistical hurdles. Material availability was a constant challenge, requiring ALBADDAD to source, fabricate, and ship all structures and components from Dubai. Managing this operation meant dealing with cross-border logistics and customs clearance at Moroccan ports, all while adhering to strict timelines for delivery.
ALBADDAD overcame these challenges through regional logistics expertise and ISO-certified systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001):
– Strategic shipping schedules, ensuring phased arrivals for parallel construction.
– On-site adaptive planning, with teams adjusting workflows in real time to offset delays.
– Deployment of Golden & Curve signature structures as architectural icons of the venue, symbolizing resilience and innovation.
– Sustainable and reusable systems in flooring, lining, and HVAC, fully aligned with international environmental standards.
Within 62 days, ALBADDAD transformed Marrakech into a 62,000 m² technology hub, delivering the largest temporary event infrastructure in Morocco’s history. Despite logistical constraints, the project was completed on time, showcasing ALBADDAD’s ability to execute large-scale projects across borders with agility and resilience.
GITEX Africa proved that mega-events can be delivered across continents, even under complex logistical conditions. This project set a new benchmark in cross-border event infrastructure delivery, ensuring Morocco gained recognition as a digital hub while reinforcing ALBADDAD’s leadership in executing sustainable, high-profile events worldwide.
Looking ahead, the same expertise will carry into projects like WUF13 in Baku, where risk-proofed delivery will ensure success despite late-stage changes and international complexities.
